[May 18, 2012] BRIEF: Cops: Cell phone stop leads to drug charges Tweet BRIDGEPORT, May 18, 2012 (Connecticut Post - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- An Ansonia man pulled over by state police on Route 25 for using a cell phone while driving is facing several charges after a trooper found drugs in the man's car, according to the police incident report. Glenn Hines, 46, of Church Street, was stopped on the northbound lanes near exit 5 Thursday afternoon around 4 p.m. when a trooper said he spotted him using a cell phone. A check of Hines record revealed he was driving with a suspended license, police said. Hines was convicted of driving under the influence earlier this year and sentenced to a suspended six-months prison sentence and 18 months probation, according to court records. In addition to the cell phone violation and driving with a suspended license, Hines was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of narcotics outside the proper container.
