San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Proclaimed It's "Maker's Weekend" in San Mateo, CA, May 19 & 20

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SEBASTOPOL, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/17/12 -- Maker Faire, the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, is proud to announce that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed that May 19 and 20 is "Maker's Weekend." Maker Faire will be held at the San Mateo County Event Center.

The proclamation embodies all that Maker Faire is and stands for: ingenuity, creativity, and a DIY spirit in a space that children and adults alike can see, learn, do and explore. It brings together artists, food makers, tinkerers, crafters, engineers, scientists, and innovators -- a community who loves to make and share their passion for it with others. Maker Faire is thrilled to have May 19 and 20 declared "Maker's Weekend" and share the maker movement with the San Francisco Bay Area.

Maker Faire is also pleased to introduce two Goldsmith Sponsors for the upcoming event who exemplify the maker movement and what Makers Weekend is all about: RadioShack and Autodesk. RadioShack is participating in Maker Faire Bay Area for the first time. After RadioShack's excitement from presenting a booth at Maker Faire New York for 2011, they were eager to interact with all the attendees and makers on the West Coast. This year RadioShack partnered with Maker Faire to host the "Learn to Solder" area as well as have their own small store front decked with all sorts of RadioShack electronic products. RadioShack is looking forward to interacting with attendees in order to gain more insight into the Maker movement and taking that knowledge in making RadioShack an overall better shopping experience for any Maker.

Autodesk, Inc., is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. Customers across the manufacturing, architecture, building, construction, and media and entertainment industries use Autodesk software to design, visualize, and simulate their ideas before they're ever built or created. Through apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android mobile devices, Autodesk is taking technology originally built for movie studios, automakers, and architectural firms, and making it available to anyone who wants to create and share their ideas with the world.
