[May 14, 2012] BRIEF: Man arrested for pet store attempted robbery Tweet May 14, 2012 (La Crosse Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A La Crosse man faces an attempted armed robbery charge after confessing to trying to rob a North Side pet store at knifepoint last week, La Crosse police said. Michael Wilken, 34, is expected today in La Crosse County Circuit Court. Police say Wilken on May 7 showed a knife and demanded the clerk at Olde Towne North Pet Store at 1233 Caledonia St. empty the cash register, but the clerk refused. Police credit the community with helping to identify Wilken after posting security video on the department's Facebook page.
