Aastra Transforms MX-ONE(R) Communication Server into a Multimedia Collaboration Solution - Video, Mobility, Virtualization and Cloud at the Heart of the MX-ONE R5.0

Dallas, TX, May 14, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Aastra, a leading company at the forefront of the enterprise communication market, has launched release 5.0 of the MX-ONE(R), which turns the highly scalable communication server for medium and large enterprises into a multimedia communication platform with video and mobility at its core.

Video Collaboration and Mobility The focus of release 5.0 is native Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) with a seamless integration of the Aastra BluStar(TM) ecosystem. Aastra has been extending its BluStar portfolio, which includes the 8000i Media Phone, PC, iPad and iPhone clients, creating a complete ecosystem with HD video conferencing at its heart.

Aastra's BluStar ecosystem embraces trends such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) with the increased use of smartphones and tablets in the workplace. It also provides users with a consistent look and feel, regardless of the device used and integrates these mobile devices into the corporate environment.

The Aastra BluStar for PC delivers HD audio and HD video as well as other UC features from a single client. The user will experience an intuitive tool that unifies voice communications with video, instant messaging, directory look-up, flexible search options and conferencing and can choose preferred communications channel depending on situation, even remotely outside the corporate network.

Multimedia communication with MX-ONE is easy to access, intuitive to use, enables people to work together more effectively thus helping businesses to gain a competitive edge. The MX-ONE provides businesses with the opportunity to roll out video collaboration and Unified Communications across a range of devices, while also benefiting from reduced costs and simpler management by having a fully integrated solution.

Virtualization & Cloud Ready The MX-ONE's virtualization capabilities have received a tremendous market response : virtualized MX-ONE can represent more than 50% of deployments in regions like the Nordics.

Aastra's new MX-ONE release extends to support larger customer multi-server environments, offers hardware consolidation and enhanced resiliency options and is aimed at customers who have a company-wide virtualization strategy for all IT/IS based applications. Aastra has focused on consolidating the number of servers and limiting the number of physical servers necessary for both the call manager and Unified Communications application servers. The integration focuses on VMware(R) as the hypervisor technology and supports VMware value added features such as High Availability (HA) or Fault Tolerance (FT). The MX-ONE 5.0 solution is also "cloud ready", ideal for those wishing to create a private cloud architecture within their virtualized environments and new business models.

Edin Hadzialic, Head of R&D for MX-ONE at Aastra comments, "The introduction of the Aastra BluStar ecosystem is a game changer for the MX-ONE. With the launch of this release, the MX-ONE offers a fully integrated Unified Communications and Collaboration solution simple to roll out across an entire organization. The MX-ONE's cloud-ready architecture caters for new innovative business models and its strengths in virtualization and open standards make it a solution of choice for a smooth infrastructure consolidation." The Aastra MX-ONE 5.0 multimedia collaboration solution will be rolled out worldwide from the end of May 2012. The Aastra BluStar client for iPads and iPhones will be available with the MX-ONE in second half of 2012.
