United States : Actuate Announces Cloudera Alliance to Support Apache Hadoop and BIRT Developers in Big Data Integration [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Actuate Corporation, The people behind BIRT and the leading open source Business Intelligence (BI) vendor, today announced an alliance with Cloudera, creator of Cloudera's Distribution Including Apache Hadoop (CDH), and the leading provider of Hadoop-based software, services and training.

ActuateOne and BIRT offer access to data stored in Cloudera's Distribution including Apache Hadoop (CDH) for commercial and development environments using HIVE Query Language (HQL). BIRT based information and business intelligence applications are able to natively access Hadoop as a data source for analysis, dashboards, reporting and interactive visualization. BIRT can be used to build data sets or data visualisations that seamlessly combine Hadoop data with other data sources including SQL databases, XML data, document archives, print streams and flat files.

The combination of ActuateOne s open, flexible approach to connect to and merge an array of Big Data sources, with Hadoop s data scalability, enables organizations to build information applications that facilitate more effective and collaborative decision making. Actuate and Cloudera s collaboration makes it easier for organizations to attain value from data that is too large to access and interpret using existing database management tools, whether that data is structured, unstructured, device- or activity-generated for example data from social networks.

Actuate believes the key to success with Big Data lies in building the right infrastructure to manage it. Our goal is to support our customers needs for Big Data infrastructure, from accessing sources to visualizing to operationalizing data for collaborative decision making. We are delighted to be working with Cloudera to provide best-in-class support to the 1.5 million BIRT developers worldwide who can use Apache Hadoop for developing BIRT-based information applications, said Nobby Akiha, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Actuate.

"The value of open source software is something that Cloudera passionately believes in, and we are constantly looking for ways to make Apache Hadoop more accessible for enterprises," said Ed Albanese, Head of Global Alliances at Cloudera. "We're pleased to be partnering with Actuate, the leader in open source Business Intelligence, and anticipate that this alliance will open the door for Actuate s extensive community of BIRT developers to access Cloudera's products and services to explore and analyze their Big Data." ActuateOne provides out-of-the-box access to Apache Hadoop data. The bundled JDBC driver provides access to Hadoop data via the Hive interface using Hive Query Language (HQL). BIRT developers will be able to easily connect to and access massive amounts of data stored in Hadoop and generate BIRT displays such as reports and dashboards using this data.
