Philippines : Digital seeks approval to expand services in Visayas and Mindanao [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Digital Telecommunication Philippines Inc. is seeking the approval of government, to expand its services in the south.

According to Digital Telecommunication Philippines, the company is seeking certificate of public convenience and necessity from National Telecommunications Commission, to operate and maintain the telecom services in Visayas and Mindanao. The company has already fulfilled the terms and conditions of NTC s provisional authority to execute its rollout plan in the south with existing capacities in areas obtained from Telecphil and applicable technologies from its suppliers. The provisional authority will end on May 2. At present, the rollout covers eight provinces in both Visayas and Mindanao, with 479 cities and 252 municipalities, respectively. The company has six exchanges in the south with total installed capacity of 4.02 million lines. The purchase by Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. of Digitel, the integration of two networks will offer diversified and competitive services in VisMin area.



Digitel said, This is in addition to the fact that existing facilities of PLDT in the area could be utilized by Digitel for cost-efficiency and to enhance its existing services and expand its rollout to other areas of the region.
