Setting up your own online ETSY Shop May 22 and May 29 Times: 6-8:30 p.m.

Instructor: Ron Philbeck Cost: $70 Etsy is an e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items as well as art and craft supplies. This informative two-part class covers how Etsy works, setting up your shop, review of policies, procedures, pricing and shipping costs. The second class will focus on putting it all together. After completing the first two sessions and you have set up a store on Etsy, a third session, including other interested students, will be arranged by the instructor to review your online store, feedback on your ideas, changes to consider in your store and discussion of effective marketing strategies. The cost for the third session is $50. Prerequisite: Basic online computer skills, an email account, knowledge of how to download digital images to your computer. For adults.

Supplies to bring: Pen and paper Class Size: min 4, max 10 About the Artist: Ron Philbeck is a potter maintaining a studio in Shelby. He is an active blogger and has utilized the Internet for marketing and promoting his work since 2005. Ron opened his online Etsy shop in early 2008. Currently he has more than 200 online sales.

Making Your Masterpiece! A Grown-Up Painting Class for FUN Dates: Session I -- Thursdays, June 28, July 5 and 12 Session 2 -- Thursdays, July 26, Aug. 2 and 9 Times: 6-9 p.m.


Cost: $35 for a single class plus $5 material fee paid to instructor or $100 for session 1 or 2 plus $15 material fee paid to instructor Instructor: Catherine M. Ware Everyone is an artist: you just have to learn the basics in order to begin. Come and explore your inner child. This is a class for fun, not for critics! This is a class for those who are willing to experiment and learn something new. We won't be spending hours on art history or technical terms. Just come to paint and enjoy the young artist that lives on the inside of you. We will work with acrylics, watercolors, and learn some basic sketching techniques. Expect an enjoyable, laidback and encouraging atmosphere where your artistic abilities can grow. For18 years and older.

She graduated from GWU and is a National Board Certified Art Teacher. She loves to paint and draw, make found object and re-purposed art, and is always learning something new and artistically challenging.

Let's Make a Face Date: Thursday, May 31 Time: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Instructor: Hal Dedmond Cost: $35 In this class, students will apply fresh clay to a hand thrown mug and make a face only a mother would love. Bring your friends and family and make it a party. Your mug will be stoneware, dishwasher and microwave safe, glazed in the glaze of your choice and fired for pickup later. No experience is necessary. For 10 years old to adults.

Supplies to Bring: Wear old clothes and bring a small towel Class size: min 4, max 8 About the artist: Hal has worked with clay for more than 15 years. His work encompasses the Catawba Valley style with special emphasis on face jugs. His faces are whimsical and fun.
