IN THE NEWS: HIGH-TECH TAKES CENTER STAGE IN NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH SHOOTING ORLANDO, Florida (AP) _ Many of us have them in our cars or on our smartphones. But GPS devices are also playing a role in the case of the neighbourhood watch volunteer who shot an unarmed teenager. George Zimmerman is now free on bond _ and his movements are being tracked by a sensitive GPS device. It will pinpoint his location for authorities in Florida _ and tip them off if he wanders even a few feet away from where he's allowed to be. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman went into seclusion after being released and as he awaits trial. He must pay an $8-a-day fee to use the device, which is generally used to track people charged in domestic violence cases.

IN THE NEWS: OCCUPY PROTESTER CAN'T STOP NEW YORK (AP) _ It's a ruling that deals with the clash over privacy in the age of social networks. A New York judge has ruled that an Occupy Wall Street protester can't stop prosecutors from getting his tweets. In his ruling, a judge said that prosecutors weren't overreaching by seeking the public tweets of Malcolm Harris during the weeks before and months after his October 1 disorderly conduct arrest on the Brooklyn Bridge. The judge says there are ``reasonable grounds'' to believe the information is relevant and material to the investigation. Prosecutors' bid for the tweets raised alarms among electronic privacy advocates. An attorney for Harris says he disagrees with the judge's ruling _ and intends to challenge it.

ON THE WEB: AMAZON SETS UP SITE FOR COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS CYBERSPACE (AP) _ Amazon.com is spreading its corporate wings. It has launched a website aimed at business, scientific and commercial customers. The site will offer things like tools, lab and office equipment and a broad range of other supplies. Amazon has always offered items like power transmission equipment and vehicle maintenance supplies. But in the past, customers had to use Amazon's flagship site to do so.

Online: Amazon Supply site: http://www.AmazonSupply.com IN STORES: APPLE _ AND THE COMPETITION NEW YORK (AP) _ When Apple reports another record quarterly profit today, it will, of course, be good news for the company. But while the high-tech company continues to make gains, those gains have resulted in pain for other companies, who you might think would benefit from Apple's fortunes. Take AT&T, for example. It took a chance on the iPhone in 2007. But since it became the first U.S. phone company to carry the iPhone, its stock is down 25 per cent, while Apple's is up 415 per cent. Another example is Best Buy. It has sold Apple products from time to time since the late 1990s. But analysts see Apple as a major threat to the only national big-box electronics chain in the country. Then, there are rival phone makers. While Apple has just 8 per cent of the global phone market, it rakes in about 80 per cent of the industry's operating profits.

Wall Street analysts expect Apple Inc. to post a profit of $9.2 billion for the January to March quarter when it reports today.
