Indiana Hunters Armed with Automated CheckIN Game System for Turkey Season

INDIANAPOLIS --(Business Wire)--

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is utilizing an online harvest reporting system developed by IN.gov to help streamline the current harvest reporting process.

Indiana hunters now have the ability to report their turkey harvest using a computer, smart phone, or tablet that has internet access without having to take the turkey to a check station for physical inspection. This online service utilizes responsive design architecture that allows the application to render dynamically based on the user's screen resolution. This allows the site to be easily viewed using a wide variety of smart phones and handheld devices.

Hunters checking their turkey using a computer, smart phone, or tablet simply need to write the CheckIN Game confirmation number on the temporary transportation tag (News - Alert) of the harvested turkey. An enhancement has also been specifically created for law enforcement to allow them to enter the confirmation number of the harvest to check the validity of the harvested game and eliminate the hunters from having to print a recipt of confirmation.

"The CheckIN Game system allows hunters to quickly check in their game from the convenience of their home or directly in the field using their mobile device," said Mark Reiter, DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife director. "This free online system is a big step forward in giving hunters more options to check in their game."

CheckIN Game will be available this weekend during the two-day youth season and when the regular spring turkey hunting season begins on April 25.

This fall, CheckIN Game likely will be expanded to include checking in white-tailed deer and fall-season turkey.
