MagneMotion Selected by ARUP Laboratories for Automation Project
DEVENS, Mass. --(Business Wire)--
MagneMotion is pleased to announce that ARUP Laboratories, an enterprise
of the University of Utah and a national clinical and anatomic pathology
reference laboratory, has chosen the MagneMover LITE (MM LITE)
intelligent transport system to replace its existing automation system.
The approximately 300-meter long MM LITE conveyor system will utilize
500 MM LITE motors and will provide the speed and precision to double
ARUP's current throughput capacity for samples processed on a daily
basis. MagneMotion has begun delivering key parts of the system which
will be fully operational by 2014.
"ARUP has a vision for implementing best-in-class automation as part of
this major lab upgrade at their campus in Salt Lake City. MagneMotion
was thrilled to be chosen to provide a key element of that world-leading
automation capability with our MagneMover LITE intelligent transport
system," stated Peter Mattila, MagneMotio VP of Sales and Marketing.
"MagneMotion's MM LITE system is highly advanced and the perfect fit for
ARUP's world class automation system," stated Heidi Kildee, Project
Manager, Automation Projects, ARUP Laboratories. "The systems speed,
ease of use and continuous tracking of samples were all factors that led
to ARUP choosing this product. In addition, the modularity of
MagneMotion's MM LITE automation system gives us flexibility for future
Dr. Charles Hawker, Scientific Director, Automation and Special
Projects, ARUP Laboratories, presented details of the new system at the
eighth Cherry Blossom Symposium on Clinical Laboratory Automation in
Seoul, South Korea on April 12, 2012. His presentation is available on
the MagneMotion website at www.magnemotion.com.
MagneMotion provides Linear Synchronous Motors (LSMs) and advanced
transport solutions for high performance assembly, process, test and
manufacturing automation. MagneMotion's LSM products are used to create
faster, more efficient, and more reliable automation solutions than
conventional systems. The LSM technology is embodied in the company's
QuickStick and MagneMover® LITE product lines, which can accommodate a
variety of acceleration, speed, and payload requirements. MagneMotion's
advanced LSM technology is a breakthrough and provides significant
advantages in powering automation, manufacturing and logistics systems,
as well as in a new class of shipboard elevators developed for the U.S.
