[April 05, 2012] Verizon to launch its 4G LTE network to the Cattaraugus-Allegany area on 19 April 2012 Tweet Apr 05, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- US wireless communication services provider Verizon Wireless said on Wednesday that it will launch its 4G LTE high-speed data network in the Cattaraugus-Allegany area, New York, on 19 April 2012. Several local 4G LTE sites have reportedly already been activated. At launch, 4G LTE will be available in the Olean, Amity, Angelica, Cuba, Ellicottville, Franklinville, Friendship, Gowanda, Hinsdale, Killbuck, Machias and Wellsville areas, and portions of the I-86 and Route 219 corridors. In addition, local sites will get the technology over the next several months. This deployment is reportedly a part of the company's nationwide rollout of its super-fast data network, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013. The company said as of 15 March 2012, its 4G LTE network covered over 200 million people in 203 markets across the US over a wide variety of 4G LTE devices, including the DROID 4 by Motorola and the DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola. With the additional new markets and continued expansions, the company's 4G LTE network is expected to cover over 260 million people in the US by the end of 2012. Verizon's 4G LTE service is already available in New York State in the New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Utica/Rome, Poughkeepsie/Kingston, Ithaca and Glens Falls areas.
