TV Diary: 'The A-team' reruns bring back good memories

Apr 02, 2012 (The News-Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- I've enjoyed, as of late, reruns of "The A-Team" at 11 p.m. Monday-Friday on Centric TV.

Centric TV is the old BET cable channel, which features reruns of "The Steve Harvey Show," "The Cosby Show," "In Living Color," "The Unit," "New York Undercover," "Miami Vice," "227," "The Jamie Foxx Show" and "The Wayans Brothers." Even though I can watch "The A-Team" on hulu.com whenever I want, I enjoy sitting in front of the TV -- instead of a computer screen -- to see my favorite characters, Hannibal, B.A., Face and Howling Mad Murdock, as they conquer bad guys all over again.

The formula was always the same: Victim hires A-Team, A-Team sizes up bad guy(s), A-Team gets captured, A-Team makes some fantastic mechanical means of escape or weaponry of some sort, A-Team prevails.

The show is dated in some respects (it aired 1983-87), but it was way ahead of its time in ingenuity.

If you've watched the show, you probably know the answers to these questions: 1. What was Col. Decker's first name? He was played by Lance LeGault.

2. Who played Triple-A, Amy Amanda Allen, the first newspaper reporter to join the team? 3. Name three famous singers who guest-starred in show episodes.

Answers: 1. Col. Roderick Decker.

2. Melinda Culea.

3. Isaac Hayes and Rick James in "The Heart of Rock N' Roll" and Boy George in "Cowboy George." ___ (c)2012 The News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, Ind.) Visit The News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, Ind.) at www.news-sentinel.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
