Freescale Chairman & CEO Rich Beyer Named Winner of the Prestigious UBM Electronics ACE Award in the Executive of the Year Category
AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--
Freescale Semiconductor (News - Alert) (NYSE: FSL) today announced that Rich Beyer,
chairman and CEO has been named the winner in the EE Times and EDN 2012
UBM Electronics ACE Awards for Executive of the Year. Two Freescale
products were also recognized. The awards program honors the people and
companies behind the technologies and products that are changing the
world of electronics.
The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 27 at
The Fairmont San Jose, during DESIGN West, a new UBM Electronics
conference and expo building on the rich foundation of training,
education and products available at ESC (News - Alert), combined with popular summits
and new event launches in one venue for the first time.
Beyer joined Freescale as Chairman and CEO in March 2008. He led a
transformation of Freescale that resulted in a dramatic corporate
overhaul of the company's vision and strategy as well as the
strengthening of the senior leadership team. Under Beyer's leadership,
Freescale has experienced improved financial results and the company
returned to the public trading arena with a successful IPO in May 2011.
Last year, Freescale invested approximately $800 million in new products
and services and marked several significant milestones in its product
portfolio roadmap.

The Freescale products earning 2012 ACE Awards are the CapTouch
Xtrinsic solution within the program's Ultimate Products -
Human-Machine Interface Technology category, and the Home
Health Hub, which won in the Ultimate Products- Development Kits,
Reference Designs and SBCs category.
A panel of EE Times editors narrowed down the entries to five finalists
in each category, based on the criteria set forth in an online
submission form. Winners are determined from among the finalists by a
panel of independent judges, including Robin B. Gray, Jr., Electronic
Components Industry Association; Gordon Bell, Senior Researcher,
Microsoft Research; Jeff Bier, President, Berkeley Design
Technology, Inc. (BDTI), Founder, Embedded Vision Alliance; Larry
Boucher, President and CEO, Alacritech; William Dally, Chairman,
Computer Science Dept., Stanford University; Erach Desai, Consultant,
DESAIsive; John East, President and CEO, Actel (News - Alert)
Corporation; Gene A. Frantz, Principal Fellow, Texas Instruments,
Inc.; Lucio Lanza, Managing Director, Lanzatech Ventures; John Mashey,
Consultant, Techviser; Dennis Monticelli, Chief Technoligist and
Fellow, National Semiconductor; Martin Reynolds, Dataquest;
George M. Scalise, President, Semiconductor Industry
Association; Naveed Sherwani, President & CEO, Open Silicon; and
Nick Tredennick, Editor, Gilder Technology Report. Judging took
place from November 1, 2011-January 6, 2012.
