Amcom Software Works with Maimonides Medical Center to Introduce Resident Hours Tracking SolutionMINNEAPOLIS --(Business Wire)-- Amcom Software, Inc. today announced that it is collaborating with Maimonides Medical Center to deliver the Amcom Duty Hours Tracking solution. The new software enables teaching hospitals to monitor and report on residents' hours in accordance with the ACGME's 2011 regulations. For Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Maimonides, the Amcom solution will simplify compliance and administration throughout the organization, which annually trains 450 residents in 70 specialties. "Information is power, but communication is key," said Dr. Steven Davidson, Chief Medical Informatics (News - Alert) Officer, Maimonides Medical Center. "Amcom is at the center of resident communications and has become a natural fulcrum for our resident duty hours tracking. It was a seamless extension of our Amcom directory and on-call scheduling solutions." In fact, integrating with existing Amcom directory and on-call scheduling information is key, as it eliminates the need for hospitals to maintain duplicate sets of contact and scheduling data for residents. Additionally, the solution allows administrators to generate reports on the number of hours each resident has worked and the intervals off between their shifts to help ensure ACGME compliance. Administrators can also create automated reminders to be sent to residents' mobile devices. These alerts notify doctors they are nearing the end of thir allotted hours for a period, or the end of a shift. Residents can update their status and track their own hours as well. Like other teaching hospitals, Maimonides had to comply not only with ACGME requirements, but also with state guidelines on resident hours. The Amcom Duty Hours Tracking solution offers hospitals the flexibility to establish their own parameters for how hours are tracked to meet relevant requirements. "We have worked closely with Dr. Davidson to address the need to track resident hours easily and effectively in light of the ACGME's updated requirements," said Chris Heim, President, Amcom Software. "Having an early adopter like Maimonides has been invaluable, and other teaching hospitals will benefit from these joint efforts."
