Verizon set to launch 4G LTE network in its 200th market today


Mar 15, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US wireless communication services provider Verizon Wireless announced on Wednesday that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network will cover 203 markets today when it launches service in seven new markets and expands in 17 markets across the US.

Today's launch of Verizon's 4G LTE network includes the 200th market in Dothan, Alabama, Verizon plans to more than double the number of its 4G LTE markets, bringing the total markets to over 400, by the end of the year. With the additional new markets and continued expansions, the company's 4G LTE network will reportedly cover over 260 million people in the US by the end of 2012.

Today, the company will introduce its 4G LTE network in Dothan and Enterprise, Alabama; Naples, Florida; Greenville, North Carolina; Altus and Durant, Oklahoma and Longview/Marshall, Texas.


The company will also expand its 4G LTE network in Washington, D.C; Elkhart, Indiana; Baltimore, Maryland.; Columbus, Mississippi; Northern New Jersey; Wilmington, North Carolina; Duncan, Oklahoma; Allentown/Bethlehem, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Scranton/Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania; Hilton Head, South Carolina; Cleveland, Tennessee; Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas and Kenosha, Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) (Nasdaq:VZ) and Vodafone (LSE: VOD) (Nasdaq:VOD).
