MAJOR DEFENSE CONTRACTOR URGES ACTION TO PROTECT CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE FROM CYBER THREATS

Mar 09, 2012 (Congressional Documents and Publications/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- WASHINGTON - Northrop Grumman - a major provider of cybersecurity to the federal government -- Thursday said better cybersecurity for critical infrastructure is a top priority for legislation addressing that issue. The bipartisan Cybersecurity Act of 2012 is the only Senate bill focusing on the cyber protection of critical infrastructure.

In a letter to the co-sponsors of the Act - Senators Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Susan Collins, R-Maine, Jay Rockefeller, D-West Va., and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. -- the giant federal contractor also praised the "open dialogue" that has surrounded drafting of their bill.

"Northrop Grumman applauds Congress' commitment to strengthening our nation's cybersecurity posture," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Wes Bush wrote. "Northrop Grumman supports the enactment of cybersecurity legislation that ... [s]trengthens critical infrastructure protection and facilitates the sharing of threat information across the public and private sectors."
