Giant Interactive to Launch Expansion Pack for ZT Online 2SHANGHAI, Mar 06, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- President of online game developer and operator Giant Interactive Group Inc (Giant Interactive; NYSE: GA) disclosed on March 6 that the company would launch a large-scale expansion pack for online game ZT Online 2 in April. It is expected that peak concurrent players shall reach 500,000 by then. ZT Online 2 made important contributions to the performance of Giant Interactive in the fourth quarter of 2011 fiscal year. Financial report showed that Giant Interactive saw 667,000 average concurrent users (ACU) of online games in the fourth quarter of 2011, up 0.9% quarter on quarter and 14.3% year on year. Its online games saw 2.339 million peak concurrent users (PCU) in the period, growing by 1.8% quarter on quarter and 36.5% year on year. The company stated that the quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year growth in both PCU and ACU was benefited from the growth of users playing ZT Online 2. In terms of user payment, Giant Interactive saw CNY 221 average revenue per user (ARPU) generated from online games in the fourth quarter of 2011, growing by 1.8% quarter on quarter and 2.8% year on year. The company in the period saw 2.167 million active paid accounts (APA), rising by 3.9% quarter on quarter and 28% year on year. The online game operator said that the rise in ARPU and APA was mainly incurred by the fact that ZT Online 2 players were more and more familiar with the game and were willing to increase payments. Financial report showed that Giant Interactive harvested CNY 494.8 million (USD 78.6 million) net revenue in the fourth quarter of 2011, growing by 34.4% year on year; net profit attributable to its shareholders came at CNY 246.4 million (USD 39.2 million) in the period, up 6.6% year on year.
