UmeNow: Privacy Mom Blasts Facebook During Radio Interview for Boomers (Audio)

Mar 05, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Privacy Mom, Evelyn Castillo-Bach, blasted Facebook as a data collection company posing as a friendly social network during an hour long radio interview on Friday with Pete Peters of The Boomer and the Babe Network. "We are witnessing the greatest data grab by companies in human history. It's the wild west of data collection. In the United States we have no laws to protect the American consumer from advertisers and online data collectors and data brokers who troll the internet grabbing every bit of information they can so they can compile it into shadow profiles and files that are sold to other companies. Facebook, for example, is nothing more than a data collection company posing as a friendly social network. Its leader is a global ad salesman in a hoodie and a t-shirt, " said Castillo-Bach who is the founder of UmeNow and an outspoken privacy advocate.

"I believe it's unethical for companies to collect people's information under the guise of helping them connect with friends and family and then sell their information. People have a simple decision to make: Move their online sharing and communication to our network that has no ads, no tracking and never monetizes people information. Or, continue to use public social networks knowing that they will snatch every personal detail, collect every online habit and sell it to anyone willing to pay, including criminal gangs posing as legitimate companies," said Castillo-Bach the maverick entrepreneur from South Florida.

Castillo-Bach was also interviewed on the subject of Employers, Schools Checking Your Social Media by Miami television earlier this year.

Company Information: UmeNow has banned all tracking and all ads. It recently changed its platform to allow anyone to join for free. Previously, free membership was limited to 30 days. Now, free membership has no time limit. UmeNow's 2-tier membership structure promises the same privacy protection to its free members. Premium level members who subscribe for $6.00/ month have access to all site areas. UmeNow is a private not public social network. Membership is by invitation only. However, during its current beta phase membership is open.

Evelyn Castillo-Bach is the founder of UmeNow and Collegiate Nation. UmeNow entered into its silent launch in July 2011. Collegiate Nation--known as GoCNCN.com-- is the first and only private network exclusively for college students. Both UmeNow and Collegiate Nation are known for fiercely protecting the privacy rights of its members. All ads, third party apps and games are banned because they are back doors to tracking and extracting private information. Castillo-Bach earned her M.S. in 1993 from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has traveled extensively in Ethiopia and in the Balkans, accompanying her Danish husband who is a lawyer.
