Digital group looksto push further in 2012 [Newcastle Journal (England)]

(Newcastle Journal (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DIGITAL agency Orange Bus has said it's developing new business models as it looks to push on from a "transformative" year in 2011.

The Newcastle agency has been responsible for a number of projects in the North East and beyond, including work with international baby product firm Tommee Tippee, software giant Sage, global publisher Pearson and Newcastle International Airport.

It's now looking to bring in five new senior staff in 2012 to cater for increased demand from national clients.

Co-director Julian Leighton said the company boosted turnover by a quarter in 2011 and invested heavily in software and processes. It now wants to diversify by developing a cloud-based technology platform, and is also launching a Software as a Service-based business model later this year. He said moving into product development "will see the business grow in ways it hasn't before", and will allow profits to "increase exponentially".

Leighton said: "Despite the growth we still enjoyed in 2011, it developed into a year of consolidation for us, which in hindsight we might not have seen coming but was very much needed.

"Over a relatively short time Orange Bus has evolved from a web- development company into a full communications, sales and marketing offering - we realised we had to invest heavily to get the business to the point where it could handle the growing demand from increasingly complex client work.

"The benefits of improving the quality of the senior team were reflected back to us by the marketplace and we are at the point where we are completely confident we can sustain and service further opportunities at that level. Crucially, we are continuing to add to and evolve the model by moving into new markets again." (c) 2012 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
