The OFC/NFOEC Annual Conference and Expo Returns to Los Angeles for a Second Consecutive Year Taking Place March 4-8
LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--
The annual Optical Fiber Communication Conference and
Exhibition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC
2012) returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center March 4-8 for a
second consecutive year. Touted as the largest global conference and
expo for optical communications and networking professionals, the
five-day event will result in a total of 14,953 room nights, a 27%
increase over last year's conference, with a citywide economic impact of
$13.4 million, up $2.8 million from the previous year.
The event, which originated in 1975 and is co-sponsored by The Optical
Society (OSA), the IEEE (News - Alert) Communications Society and the IEEE Photonics
Society, will attract some 11,000 delegates from across the globe that
will arrive to network with those in their field as well as discuss and
exchange ideas about new trends and innovations taking place within the
industry.
"There is nothing more gratifying than having an event such as OFC/NFOEC
return to our City for a second consecutive year to hold its

The Los Angeles Convention Center will be the backdrop for most of the
convention with a reception taking place at Lucky Strike Bowl at L.A.
LIVE. Several Downtown hotels will house the delegates during the
five-day event including Figueroa Hotel, Hilton Checkers, JW Marriott
Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE, Kawada Hotel, Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens,
LUXE City Center, Marriott Downtown Los Angeles, Millennium Biltmore
Hotel, Miyako Hotel, O Hotel, Omni Los Angeles Hotel, TheStandard
Downtown Los Angeles, Ritz Milner, Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown, and
the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites.
The conference will feature a trio of keynote speakers, including Milo
Medin, vice president of Access Services for Google (News - Alert); Greg Papadopoulous,
Ph.D, venture partner with New Enterprise Associates; and Isao Sugino,
director for the Research and Development Office, Technology Policy
Division, Global ICT Strategy Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and
Communications, Japan. In addition, attendees can partake in an online
Job Fair where employers from the optics field can connect virtually
with job seekers looking for opportunities in all areas of optical
communications.
