[February 29, 2012] CANADA,UNITED STATES : AVNET to distribute ORACLE s Health Sciences solutions in the US and CANADA [TendersInfo (India)] Tweet (TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Avnet Technology Solutions stated that it has inked an expanded agreement with Oracle to distribute Oracle s Health Sciences solutions in the US and Canada. As per the agreement, Avnet will work with six North American solution providers to distribute Oracle's Healthcare Information Exchange and Oracle Enterprise Healthcare Analytics solutions. Chris Swahn, vice president of the Oracle Solutions Group at Avnet, referring to the combination of Oracle applications, middleware and (formerly Sun) hardware said, We re excited, because it s the first time we re taking advantage of the whole Red Stack. It s a defining moment we re showing Oracle that we can do this from top to bottom, and really implement it. "SolutionsPath is a sword, and the shaft is a vertical focus, to help partners dive in," Swahn said. "What Oracle and Avnet have done is put the point on the tip of that sword with Oracle Healthcare Information Exchange and Oracle Enterprise Healthcare Analytics. We have been focused on this initiative for about two years, and we have been arm in arm with Oracle for the last year developing a channel strategy." Swahn said the Avnet program has been designed to allow partner service levels to be better than what Oracle can deliver itself. "Partners involved in this need have experience in health care, and need to be services capable," he said. "They will have been looking into modifying their portfolio and getting out of the infrastructure sales model. They have to be willing to have the forethought to realize the world is changing, that services and software will drive hardware solutions." "We are having great success in bringing partners on line here," he said. "We have a focus on lead generation, because quality leads have to be passed to partners so they have the opportunity to sell. We are nine days into our first lead generation program, and I am two for two in hearing from partners saying our leads were spectacular. Avnet sees the Oracle health sciences solution as being sold most effectively through a fully integrated Oracle 'Red Stack.' "They can deliver a very specific application, which is best in class, through middleware software which is best in class, and through an appliance strategy which is best in class," Swahn said. "We went to great lengths in making sure things were in place for a complete solution, including demo equipment, and making sure the full Exadata stack with all the middleware would be available.
