Encore Networks Expands Copper to Cellular M2M Product Offerings

Encore Networks (News - Alert), a leader in M2M solutions for fixed and wireless communications, today unveiled added software and hardware options to increase physical and cyber security. Encore has also added ruggedized capabilities for applications in harsh environments available across the full C2C™ product line. In addition the company announced its latest M2M router model.

The newest model designated C2C-E2C™, is the Ethernet-to-Cellular version of the C2C™. The new router delivers TCP/IP Ethernet-only services over public or private cellular networks anywhere in the world. Available in both commercial and ruggedized temperature hardened units, the C2C-E2C™ operates on a wide range of AC or DC power.

"For years Encore has recognized that both physical and cyber security are of paramount importance for mission critical in M2M communications that involve advanced automation or sensitive data," said Peter Madsen, President and CEO of Encore Networks. Physical security is increased by our Power Failure Alert for dying gasp notification when there is a loss of site or system power and the Ethernet Port Lock Down (ELock™) which stops transmissions if a physical cable disconnects or the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) changes. These improvements appear in our entire C2C portfolio."

The latest release includes:

• Ethernet To Cell Router C2C-E2C™ -- Commercial and temperature hardened versions that provide Internet Protocol (IP), SSL, IPsec VPN, Firewall, a 10/100 Ethernet Port, and an integrated 3G cell rado in a single box.
• Power Failure Alert (PFA) -- For network notification of site or system power outage the C2C™ router portfolio can be equipped with the PFA module. It provides short-term backup power ensuring that the router can send a last-gasp series of SNMP trap messages to report the outage at a central monitoring point. It also reports immediately when power is restored.
• SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) -- The C2C™ router supports SSL security technology for establishing an encrypted link for Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) or Point-of-Sale (POS) devices whether connected via Analog Modem or Ethernet.
• Intrusion Detection Tracker™ -- Cyber Security activity detection. OSI Layer 4 protection for incoming and outgoing data transmission provides detailed reporting in real time.
• Ethernet Port Lock Down (ELock™) -- The ELock™ feature recognizes the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the device connected to the C2C's Ethernet port. If a new MAC address attempts to communicate or the physical Ethernet cable is detached, the C2C™ will lock the Ethernet port-- no data can be transmitted or received.
• Temperature Hardened versions of the C2C™ platforms for harsh environments from -40 C to +75 C.
• DC Voltage Options -- Hardened Internal Power inputs for 12, 24 and 48 Volts d.c.
