NETGEAR announces availability of new Small Cell Home Gateway for Alcatel-Lucent network infrastructure
Feb 23, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --
Networking company NETGEAR Inc (Nasdaq:NTGR) announced on Thursday that its DEVG2000F Small Cell Home Gateway is now available for network integration by service providers with an Alcatel-Lucent Mobile network infrastructure.
The company said that the new gateway is the result of a long-term collaboration with Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq:BRCM) and Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) to lower costs, deliver higher performance and expand mobile coverage for service providers.
The DEVG2000F quad-play small cell home gateway allows operators to expand 3G HSPA+ mobile coverage beyond the reach of their existing footprint to fixed line customers at home, assure Quality of Service (QoS) to mobile devices and move traffic from macrocells to small cells, increasing spectrum utilisation efficiency.
The small cell home gateway uses fixed broadband access to deliver 3G HSPA+ data rates of up to 21.6Mb/s downstream / 5.76Mb/s upstream to up to 8 mobile clients. It also integrates four Ethernet ports and N300 802.11n Wi-Fi. It also includes dual WAN for failover and back-up for network access. Voice is delivered to mobile devices via the integrated small cell and to wired handsets via VoIP, using service providers' IP Multimedia subsystems (IMS), enabling consumers to choose mobile or existing landline numbers while at home.
No pricing details were disclosed.
