Verizon Wireless Extends Its 4G LTE Network in the Rapid City, South Dakota Area


Feb 20, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Verizon Wireless announced customers across the greater Rapid City area can now take advantage of Verizon Wireless' 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

According to a release, new coverage extends from Rapid City including: -East on Interstate 90 to Belvidere including Wasta, Wall and Kadoka as well as east on State Highway 14 to Philip; -West on I-90 to Spearfish including Piedmont, Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead and Whitewood as well as north of I-90 to Belle Fourche and Newell; -And, South to Edgemont including Custer and Hot Springs.



Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network allows customers to share music and photos, surf the Web and download files up to 10 times faster than with the company's 3G network, the Company said. In real-world, fully loaded network environments, 4G LTE customers in the greater Rapid City coverage area should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

"We are expanding our network so that even more of the greater Rapid City-area residents, small businesses and local government can take advantage of the next generation of wireless technology, which is continuing to push the boundaries of connectivity," said Seamus Hyland, presidentGreat Plains Region, Verizon Wireless.
