Amtel Secures Enterprise BYOD Influx With First Free Mobile Device Management (MDM) Solution
SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
Amtel,
Inc., the industry's first integrated solution for managing smart
device security and telecom expenses, today announced the first free
Mobile Device Management (MDM) service targeted to enterprises of all
sizes. The announcement comes as mobile devices (both company and
employee liable) are rapidly growing as critical business tools and for
accessing the enterprise network, creating a myriad of management and
security issues for enterprises.
"In addition to the flood of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), where
employees use their personal smartphones and tablets to access corporate
networks, more businesses are replacing company landline phones with
mobile phones," said Pankaj (PJ) Gupta, CEO of Amtel. "This creates
significant security risks, as mobile devices are more susceptible to
exploitation by unauthorized users. With IDC (News - Alert) forecasting that 140
million smartphones and tablets will be in use by enterprises by the
year 2013, it is remarkable that as many as 80% of enterprises currently
have no mobile device management and security system in place."
The new service, Amtel (News - Alert) Free Business Mobile Device Management (MDM),
will offer the key features enterprises require for mobile security and
management, including mobile passwor security, detection of compromised
devices, device information and statistics, application discovery and
listing, and the ability to build a central mobile inventory for the
management of mobile assets. Like Amtel's premium MDM service, the free
service offers a Web-based console that operates across the leading
mobile device platforms, including Ios and Android. It is the only SAS (News - Alert)
70 Type II certified solution for MDM, offering the highest level of
data security and reliability equivalent to that used by financial
institutions. The system is easily installed through over-the-air
provisioning within minutes, and there are no limitations on the number
of devices an enterprise can enroll.
Amtel has led the market as one of the first MDM providers to offer its
premium service through a Software as a Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) platform. This
enables enterprises to avoid the expensive and time consuming
installation of competitive MDM offerings that can come with initial
installation costs from $40,000 to $500,000. In the same way that Amtel
made its premium MDM and expense management platform more cost effective
via its SaaS delivery, it is now making a basic MDM version available
for free.
Enterprises that require a more extensive MDM solution that incorporates
expense management features to provide a comprehensive mobile device and
expense lifecycle management platform can utilize the premium Amtel
Mobile Device Management solution. This platform is the only MDM
solution that enables enterprises to track, manage and allocate actual
carrier expenses for enterprise mobile devices in real-time, instituting
mobile policy and generating alerts and spend reports to users based on
corporate policies. By integrating MDM and Telecom Expense Management
(TEM), the system provides immediate ROI through drastic reductions in
mobile telecom costs. The service also provides comprehensive workflow
procurement and inventory updating to simplify and reduce the costs of
provisioning of new devices to users.
