HealthStream and Laerdal launch SaaS application for simulation-based trainingFeb 03, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- HealthStream, Inc., a provider of learning and research solutions for the healthcare industry, and Laerdal Medical, a provider of educational solutions for healthcare providers and educators, have launched SimManager, a software-as-a-service, or SaaS, application that is used for managing simulation-based training. The companies have also announced the launch of SimView, which enables users of advanced patient simulators to easily capture simulation video, audio, data logs, and patient responses, creating a debriefing tool to optimize learning. SimView automatically integrates data from up to four video cameras, a microphone, and patient monitoring with the event log from the advanced patient simulator. Instructors can add comments to the log during a scenario and can easily manage the delivery, storage, and distribution of the debriefing files, the company added. "Utilization of simulation training among healthcare organizations and educational institutions is rapidly intensifying and for good reason," said Tor Morten Osmundsen, CEO of Laerdal Medical. "Simulation is unique in that it allows healthcare institutions to practice critical, lifesaving procedures in a safe, standardized, and repeatable environment. With SimManager, implementing and managing simulation programs is greatly simplified, making this powerful learning methodology easier to adopt." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
