UNITED STATES : AT&T to unveil carrier-grade UC service [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) AT&T is all set to unveil a carrier-grade unified communications (UC) service - AT&T UC Services. According to AT&T, UC Services will offer collaboration, IP telephony and messaging services through the cloud, to business users of all sizes. It will help users to combine their communications on a cloud-based platform, which can be accessed from any location on mobile devices and PCs. UC Services includes two elements - UC Central and UC Voice. UC Central provides efficiency for better collaboration. It supports tablets, smartphones and PCs, helping users with instant messaging, presence indicators, email, voice-over-IP and videoconferencing. UC Voice offers legacy PBX integration. It can be utilized separate, or integrated with UC Central. It is based on Cisco's Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) technology, offering high-quality IP telephony hosted from the cloud, with IP 'softphone' capability, video and web conferencing and presence. AT&T stated that, with UC Services, users will flawlessly be able to transfer sessions between a desktop computer and a mobile device, as well as transition from one medium to another, including switching from instant messaging to a voice call as per the requirement. It supports various platforms such as Windows PCs, plus BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows Phone and Android. Shawn Conroy, VP of Voice, Collaboration and Unified Communications Services at AT&T Business Solutions, said, Not only can this service leverage an organization s existing investments to improve business collaboration, it also provides an easy transition from where a customer is today to where they want to be tomorrow without incurring significant capital expenses.
