Local business offering mobile advantage with QR technology

Jan 24, 2012 (The Morehead News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Jan. 24, 2012 --With today's technology, building an interactive marketing campaign is just a smart phone "scan" away with the bar code tool called QR (Quick Response).

Mark Keadle and Woody Cundiff, owners of 800mobileapps in Morehead, are now offering this all-in-one web application and mobile website.

With Google reporting a 500 percent increase in mobile phone web searches from 2008-2011, a trend they say shows more people will be searching the web from a mobile phone than from a personal computer by 2013, making QR coding the mobile application tool of choice.

"This application offers on-the-go customers instant access to information," Keadle said. "Just about everyone is carrying a camera-enabled mobile device capable of scanning. The QR offers instant information with real-time updates the client can make themselves online." Once the QR code is scanned, users are brought to the business' mobile web page/mobile app screen.

The applications screen could contain one touch accessibility to things such as hours of operation, a restaurant menu, photos or videos, a showcase app providing specials, a coupon app or a "contact me" app which would instantly call the business.

"There is no limit to how, or how much, a business can share with a QR code," Keadle said. "By putting a Facebook or Twitter feed app on the mobile applications page, you can pull in customers and build a social network as well, increasing traffic and visibility," he added.

"Building and changing your Web application and mobile website is fairly simple with our program," Cundiff said. "The 800mobileapps web site is very user friendly and most people can design their screen themselves," he said.

"We offer some very industry specific apps for businesses such as restaurants, hotels and realtors," Keadle said.

The company provides several different monthly rates starting at $20 and based on the amount of apps used. "Our users can log into their account at any time and update or change their features at no cost above their monthly fee, which offers their customers up-to-the-minute information," said Keadle.
