ATLANTA, Jan. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, has announced the appointment of Tom Albert as vice president of business development. As former senior advisor for cybersecurity at Cisco, Albert will head up the development of strategic security partnerships for Lancope. He brings to this new position more than 10 years of sales experience in the IT and security markets.

"With the recent levels of sophistication being employed by online attackers, organizations are coming to realize that there is no silver bullet technology for winning the ongoing cyber arms race," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "We are thrilled to have Tom leverage his vast security and sales expertise to closely align us with other leading-edge technology providers and help enterprises achieve more effective defense-in-depth strategies." In his most recent role, Albert was responsible for driving Cisco's go-to-market strategy, solution focus and sales/marketing approach for cybersecurity. He also held previous security sales positions at Cisco including product sales specialist for the Federal market and regional sales manager.

Prior to joining Cisco in 2007, Albert served as a channel manager for Oracle, as well as Federal regional sales manager for Symantec and Federal territory manager for Sygate Technologies. Albert has worked closely with some of the world's largest organizations to develop and implement successful strategies that help ensure the security of critical information assets. He holds a BA in Marketing Communications from Pennsylvania State University.

"Lancope fills a critical gap in today's security paradigm by leveraging NetFlow from existing devices to provide continuous monitoring of network assets," said Albert. "I am excited to join the company at such a pivotal time for the security industry to help elevate flow-based monitoring to the next level. When analyzed through Lancope's StealthWatch® System, network flow data can completely transform the performance and security posture of even the largest networks."
