TelePresence Tech 4G Kiosks Part of Verizon Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent Connected Retail Experience at CES 2012

LAS VEGAS and BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- At this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, TelePresence Tech, a 3D telepresence innovator based in Plano, Texas, is teaming with Verizon Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) to help showcase a whole new breed of mobile commerce applications. As part of the Retail Zone section of the Verizon booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Booth #30259), two TelePresence Tech 4G Kiosks illustrate how 3D telepresence can be integrated with cloud computing and ultra-high bandwidth 4G LTE to create a new interactive personalized shopping experience to benefit both customers and retailers.

TelePresence Tech has bridged the gap between the in-store experience and online ordering. The TelePresence Tech 4G Kiosks captivate customers with a three-dimensional display that can feature an endless aisle of products to extend beyond the inventory within the store. The kiosks are connected to the cloud over the Verizon 4G LTE network to access the store's full line of products and provide the customer with the opportunity to create their own profile and "mobile wallet." The 4G Kiosks are enabled with Near Field Communications technology to help deliver a personalized retail experience in store locations and at home. In the CES demo, the TelePresence Tech 4G Kiosks are part of the Virtual Personal Stylist demonstration -- supported by Verizon Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent -- where a consumer receives a coupon through a Near Field Communications-enabled device which can then be redeemed via an interactive kiosk. The Virtual Personal Stylist is a concept from the ng Connect Program, founded by Alcatel-Lucent now with 125 member companies, including TelePresence Tech.

"The Verizon 4G LTE network expands the reach of our 3D TelePresence systems to transmit a customer service representative to appear as a life-size person in a three-dimensional setting to provide a natural live interaction with a customer," says Duffie White, chief executive officer of TelePresence Tech. "This 4G Kiosk solution gives manufacturers the opportunity to reach customers in stores, shopping malls and public places with an impressive sense of presence." Verizon Wireless leads the way in 4G with the largest 4G LTE network and most reliable 4G network in the United States, which now covers more than 200 million people in 190 markets.

Verizon established its Innovation Program to encourage collaboration and help advance the 4G LTE ecosystem. The company's LTE Innovation Center in Waltham, Mass., and its Application Innovation Center in San Francisco were created to inspire, enable and develop non-traditional devices, services and applications that take advantage of Verizon Wireless' industry-leading wireless networks. Through the Innovation Program, Verizon seeks to expand the possibilities of 4G LTE by working with diverse companies, from start-ups to established players, in industries representing a broad range of verticals.
