WHAT:

Further to the announcement of 27 September 2011 from LiMo
Foundation and Linux Foundation (News - Alert), Tizen Association (www.tizenassociation.org)
has now been formed to drive industry engagement and in-market
support for the Tizen software platform. Tizen Association
comprises mobile industry leaders (see company list below) serving
as a Board to guide Tizen and its application ecosystem to fulfill
the broad industry requirement for a software platform that
enables flexibility in service selection and deployment.

Tizen (www.tizen.org)
is a Linux-based open source, standards-based, cross-architecture
device software platform, including an operating system, HTML5
application framework and customizable user experience. Tizen will
span multiple device categories including smartphones, tablets,
smart TVs, netbooks and in-vehicle infotainment systems.

|
|
|
|
|
|
The industry- and market-facing role of LiMo Foundation (News - Alert) has now been
incorporated into Tizen Association, while the engineering of the
Tizen software platform is taking place within the Tizen open source
project hosted by Linux Foundation.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The alpha version of Tizen was released today as open source
through the Tizen.org
project page.

|

|
Tizen Association was formed on 1 January 2012. The alpha release of
Tizen was made available on 9 January 2012.
