Huawei Supports Russian Operator in LTE Network DeploymentBEIJING, Dec 22, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Huawei is providing support for Russian mobile operator Scartel (brand owner of Yota) to introduce the LTE (Long Term Evolution) network in Novosibirsk, the largest city in Siberia, Russia, at present, according to insider on December 22. By far, the Russian operator has deployed 63 LTE base stations in Novosibirsk. The number is expected to be expanded to 150 by March 2012. Huawei is the provider for the infrastructures of the network. Scartel would provide commercial modems for users staring from January 15, 2012 via its retail shops and channel partners. Yota brand owner and MegaFon made public of an agreement concerning the co-development of 4G LTE network early this month. According to the agreement, MegaFon would be able to use the facilities of Scartel to provide LTE service for its own users, while Scartel would be allowed to employ the network infrastructures of MegaFon to deploy its LTE network.
