New System from ACS, A Xerox Company, to Provide Connecticut Law Enforcement, Courts Centralized Statewide Access to Criminal Records

DALLAS --(Business Wire)--

ACS, A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), will build a criminal justice information sharing system for the state of Connecticut designed to improve public safety and drive down costs. Police, judges and others will be able to electronically access and exchange criminal and court records using a centralized statewide system. It will be one of the most advanced tools of its kind in the country, making data available from hundreds of sources in the state to thousands of authorized users.

As part of a $14 million, six-year contract, ACS (News - Alert) will design and implement the Connecticut Information Sharing System (CISS) for the state's Criminal Justice Governing Board. CISS will be a secure portal for agencies to access and share records, eliminating the need to search manually for information, generate reports or transmit paper documents. Initially, the system will enable 50,000 users to share text, analytics, business intelligence, dashboards, video, graphics and audio, and improve access to reports. Over time, it is expected to expand to 75,000 users.

"This system will incorporate many trusted and time-tested solutions to improve public safety in Connecticut, and give agencies comprehensive and secure access to the information they need to make decisions and protect citizens," said Mike Lawlor, under secretary, Office of Policy and Management, state of Connecticut.

To ensure the state can quickly benefit from improvements to public safety and reduced costs, ACS is designing the system to go live in stages.

"Sharing information is a powerful asset that is changing how government agencies operate," said Nancy Collins, group president, ACS Government Business Process Solutions Group. "The CISS will serve as a model for other states as a next-generation tool that can improve public safety."
