New Personal Safety App bSafe Joins Angry Birds and Facebook as Most Downloaded iPhone Apps in Norway

BERGEN, Norway, Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- After only a few weeks on the market, the free personal safety app bSafe(TM) (http://www.bipper.com/bsafe/) has rapidly become one of the most downloaded iPhone(TM) apps in Norway. For the past week, bSafe, Angry Birds(TM) and Facebook(TM) apps have vied for the No. 1 spot on iPhone. bSafe, which has relied almost exclusively on word-of-mouth marketing in its native Norway, has also gained significant traction on Android(TM) phones. Launching soon in the U.S. and the rest of the world, the app will also be available on BlackBerry(TM) devices.

I expect a very positive reception in the U.S. as well, where the need may be even greater for a free, easy-to-use personal safety tool." bSafe is a free app that allows users to select personal Guardians, the people who will be notified when help is needed. All user's guardians are alerted with an emergency SOS message that includes the sender's location, while a direct call is placed to one specified contact.

bSafe is the latest offering from Bipper AS, the privately owned Norway-based company founded by tech-Mom Vallestad in 2008. Bipper is dedicated to developing mobile safety solutions for the international market. The company's internationally recognized, award-winning first product, Bipper, is designed to help parents monitor and control kids' mobile use. Bipper was launched in partnership with leading European mobile operators.
