Permabit Names Michael Fortson as VP of Engineering [Manufacturing Close - Up]


(Manufacturing Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Permabit Technology Corp., a company focused on the development and delivery of Data Optimized Storage, announced that Michael Fortson has been promoted to Vice President of Engineering.

In a release on Nov. 1, Permabit said that Fortson, previously the Director of Engineering and Chief Architect at the company, is responsible for Permabit's engineering, quality assurance, product support, and IT teams. He also works with OEM engineering teams to ensure successful adoption of Permabit's Albireo deduplication technologies.



Fortson brings over 10 years of software design and development experience in the data storage industry to his new role. He has previously led the development of Permabit's scale-out storage technology, Enterprise Archive, and drove engineering for Albireo from early prototype to production. During his tenure, Permabit has been awarded 26 patents in deduplication technologies and other core areas.

"Michael has been instrumental in leading the organization responsible for the development and delivery of Albireo and Albireo VDO to our OEM partners. He will continue to evolve our technology to maintain Permabit's leadership in data efficiency, with a mission to deliver products that massively improve the performance and efficiency of data creation, transmission and storage," said Jered Floyd, Chief Technology Officer, Permabit.
