Vendini Releases New QR Code Capability for Mobile Ticketing

Oct 31, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Vendini announced the release of its new mobile capabilities to allow patrons to use their smartphones to purchase tickets and gain access to concerts, sporting events, and other live performances without ever touching a piece of paper.

Vendini reported that this capability allows venues to create their own QR codes for ticket purchase. Any of the estimated 82.2 million Americans with a smartphone can scan the code off a print ad, direct mail piece or even an online site and purchase a ticket. A confirmation is automatically sent to the individual's email and when they arrive at the event, their phone is scanned and they are admitted into the venue, without ever printing.

"Our new release makes it possible to take the entire ticketing experience to the patron's smartphone," said Mark Tacchi, Vendini CEO and Founder. "Mobile ticketing isn't just a convenience for patrons, though, it increases efficiency and revenue for venues. It simplifies ticket purchasing and decreases costs associated with handling paper tickets." "So far, response from patrons has been overwhelmingly positive," said Mark Guarnera, Vendini EVP. "QR codes make attending events much simpler for the growing number of patrons who use smartphones to help manage their time crunched schedules." Vendini is a provider of cloud based ticketing solutions.
