ExteNet installs wireless distributed networks at two Chicago landmarks

Oct 25, 2011 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- ExteNet Systems Inc, a supplier of open distributed networks for use by wireless carriers, said today that it has installed wireless technology at the Willis Tower and Navy Pier in Chicago.

The indoor and outdoor distributed networks will be operated and maintained by ExteNet, providing wireless coverage for the 9 million people that visit these destinations each year.

A distributed antenna system (DAS) installed by ExteNet at Willis Tower handles advanced wireless technologies such as UMTS and LTE in common areas and offices throughout the building, as well as on the parking garage levels.

At Navy Pier the company has upgraded indoor and outdoor network nodes to provide wireless coverage across the tourist attraction, which has 50 acres of parks, promenades, gardens, shops and other attractions.
