Emerson to Provide Solar Technology for One of Europe's Leading Companies in Photovoltaic Power

ST. LOUIS --(Business Wire)--

Emerson (News - Alert) (NYSE: EMR) has been awarded a contract to supply power inverter technology to one of Europe's leading solar energy developers. Under an agreement with Euro Projects, Emerson will provide utility-scale power inverters for two adjacent solar power plants in the municipality of Villaperuccio in Sardinia, Italy.

Emerson's power inverters convert DC power from solar arrays into AC power, which is placed directly on the electric grid and is used by homes and businesses. The Sardinia plants will produce a combined 10 megawatts of solar energy, and will be controlled and monitored through Emerson's state-of-the-art inverter management system.

"We have a long-standing relationship with Emerson, so when this multiarray project came across my radar, Emerson was an obvious choice," said Marco Lupini, President and Owner of Euro Projects. "It is so important for us to have ongoing assurance, and Emerson's strong financial stability and dependable, long-term warranty service capabilities were attractive to us. We firmly believe that working with Emerson helps position our company as a leader among alternative energy programs globally."

The Villaperuccio project has been fully operational since July 2011 and will generate enough energy to power roughly 3,200 homes. The project is financed, developed, and managed by Euro Projects.

"The Euro Projects plants are another example of Emerson's commitment to generating renewable energy," said Mark Bulanda, who serves as global leader for Emerson's solar and wind energy initiatives. "We are pleased to be working with them, and we are happy to have this opportunity to supply critical technology to some of the largest and most innovative solar projects in Italy."

The facilities in Sardinia serve as yet another great example of Emerson's successful solar installations and add to the company's existing portfolio of more than 400 megawatts of utility-scale inverters for solar energy projects worldwide.
