eBay's X.commerce migrates X.com developer website to Drupal 7

Oct 13, 2011 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Acquia, the enterprise guide to Drupal, has announced that eBay's new business, X.commerce, an open commerce ecosystem, has migrated its X.com developer website and all developer-related content on eBay and PayPal from a proprietary platform to Drupal 7, an open-source content management system.

Using an open environment, X.commerce enables the development of tools and technologies that enhance how consumers shop online, said Acquia.

Drupal is open-source software with a community of more than 600,000 users and developers. Its open development model ensures that Drupal remains a platform that supports the latest technologies the Web has to offer. Acquia develops and markets commercial products, services, and technical support for the Drupal social publishing system. Acquia is working with its partner VML, a full service digital marketing agency, and web engineering company TAM Software on the X.commerce site migration, the company added.

"X.commerce is at the forefront of development in the commerce technology universe, and we're delighted that the business - along with eBay and PayPal - sees the effectiveness of Drupal as a best-of-breed, enterprise-level solution," said Tom Erickson, CEO of Acquia.

"We look forward to helping these market leaders by ensuring a smooth migration, and will work with them to develop new capabilities and technologies that advance the goals of their developer communities." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
