Keynote App in PagerDuty Delivers Sophisticated Incident Management for Website Operations Teams

SAN MATEO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Keynote® Systems (NASDAQ:KEYN), the global leader in Internet and mobile cloud monitoring, and PagerDuty, the premier IT alerting and on-call management service, today announced the general availability of an integrated Keynote app within PagerDuty's advanced phone/SMS alerting tools.

The Keynote app in PagerDuty delivers sophisticated incident management and alerting for website operations teams. The integration is built on the foundation of having Keynote website monitors send alerts to PagerDuty directly. PagerDuty takes incoming Keynote issues, assigns them to the web operations on-call engineer, and alerts the engineer via a combination of phone calls, SMS and email. The phone and SMS alerts sent by PagerDuty indicate, at a glance, which website or web application is reporting a performance or availability issue, and whether the issue has reached a warning or critical threshold. PagerDuty also handles automatic escalation of alerts: if the on-call engineer does not respond to an alert in time, the issue is auto-escalated to a team member, ensuring all critical alerts are dealt with quickly.

With the new Keynote integration delivered by PagerDuty, notifications can be fine-tuned to send further alerts when website performance and availability thresholds are exceeded at any time, or only when the situation reaches a critical stage and thresholds are being exceeded by a wide margin.

"We are pleased to offer to all Keynote customers this native integration with Keynote web monitoring directly within the PagerDuty console, allowing them to receive targeted Keynote alerts via a phone call, an SMS or to enhance the emil alerts they already receive," said Alex Solomon, founder and CEO at PagerDuty. "With this release of PagerDuty, we are deepening and enhancing our partnership with Keynote by providing a service that is even more optimized for Keynote users. Together, we can help IT departments detect and fix critical issues as quickly as possible in order to reduce expensive downtime."

PagerDuty is an alerting and incident aggregation service for system administrators and support teams. The service collects alerts from a variety of monitoring tools, provides an integrated view of all existing issues, and alerts the designated responder if there's a problem. PagerDuty allows users to build sophisticated alerting rules to determine who to contact when problems occur. Multiple levels of coverage can also be assigned to ensure that if the "primary" on-call person doesn't respond to an alert in a timely fashion it will automatically be escalated to a "secondary" person, and so on until the issue is addressed. PagerDuty also manages on-call duty, allowing operations teams to schedule rotations to fairly share on-call duty responsibilities.

"The availability of the Keynote app within PagerDuty's console makes it very easy for Keynote customers to quickly configure their alarm and incident management service from PagerDuty with their Keynote web monitoring account," said Vik Chaudhary, vice president of product management and corporate development at Keynote. "With additional enhancements such as the ability to escalate notifications for critical site performance issues to higher levels within web operations teams, PagerDuty continues to be the leader in sophisticated alert management capabilities, providing enterprises with a failsafe alerting solution."
