Securus Extends Partnership With Telerus

DALLAS, Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Securus Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of inmate communications services and investigative technologies, today announces a new three-year contract extension with Telerus, Inc., for the exclusive rights to provide Automated Information Services (AIS(TM)).

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20100831/DA57799LOGO) AIS(TM) is the industry leading Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system that provides inmate-specific and general facility information to the public over the phone. When calling a correctional facility installed with AIS(TM), callers also have the option to deposit money into their prepaid phone account or into the inmates trust account. In addition, the AIS(TM) system enables inmates themselves to obtain information such as charges, court dates, bonding information, visitation eligibility, release dates, and many other types of information, all through integration with Securus' existing calling platform.

"Securus has been the exclusive provider of AIS for five years," said Matthew Smith, Product Manager for Securus. "Automated Information Services is currently deployed at more than 80 correctional facilities and is processing nearly 1 million calls per month, which represents an annual labor savings of well over $5 million for our customers. This continued partnership helps maintain Securus' position as the technology leader in the inmate communication market." Matthew continues, "While some competing technologies promote similar services to AIS(TM), they typically don't provide important features such as voice recognition, the ability for outside callers to deposit money into telephone or trust accounts, and integration with commissary providers to provide balance information. Without these features, any automated system becomes less effective." "We are most pleased to extend our partnership with Securus," said Ted Radey, CEO of Telerus. "When we researched inmate communications five years ago, Securus stood out as the best of breed provider and the same holds true today. The partnership has been a tremendous success that essentially put a new software category on the map. We are excited to continue defining this category with Securus while helping correctional facilities lower labor costs and improve citizen service," Radey added.

Securus plans on deploying AIS(TM) at an additional 50 correctional facilities within the next 12 months.
