October 3, 2011 - Avnet Technology Solutions Now Offers Oracle Exadata Demo Capabilities for Oracle Solution Providers in the U.S. and CanadaOracle Open World 2011 - San Francisco -- Avnet Technology Solutions, the global IT solutions distribution leader and operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced the expansion of its "Under Our Wing" program, which helps solution provider partners in the U.S. and Canada quickly and easily obtain Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Specialization. Participating Oracle partners can now demonstrate to prospective customers the benefits of incorporating the Oracle Exadata Database Machine into their data center and IT environments, both in-person and virtually. Additionally, Avnet added new training curriculum to the program to prepare Oracle partners for their OPN Specialization tests. "Avnet's 'Under our Wing' program has been very successful in helping our Oracle partners obtain their OPN Specialization, and we are enhancing the program to build on these achievements and take our partners' skill sets to an even higher level," said Chris Swahn, vice president and general manager for Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas' Oracle Solutions group. "For example, Oracle Exadata Database Machine is a powerful data center offering, and we wanted to provide our partners with a cost-effective way to demonstrate its compelling benefits to prospects. Now, our Oracle partners can reduce their upfront Specialization investment costs by leveraging Avnet's centrally available and customizable Oracle Exadata demos, while still meeting the system qualifications needed to achieve and maintain Oracle Center of Excellence status." Avnet's Oracle partners will be able to offer their prospects Exadata demos and proof-of-concept solutions designs in person at the Avnet Global Solutions Center in Chandler, Ariz. They can also leverage these services virtually through Avnet's Demo Center, an online remote portal with access to demonstrations for key suppliers and industry solutions across a variety of IT environments. As part of Avnet's "Under Our Wing" program, these Exadata resources can also be used to help train partners' sales and technical teams. Since it was launched in 2010, Avnet's "Under Our Wing" program has helped approximately 35 Oracle partners achieve more than 100 OPN Specializations. Avnet is also expanding the tools, training, dedicated personnel and resources available through this program with several new training offerings, along with the Oracle Exadata demos. These training offerings include technical in-person implementation training sessions featuring Avnet and Oracle experts, and are designed to prepare partners for specialization tests. Partners can also access a self-service website to be guided through the entire OPN specialization process.
