Accenture Builds on Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle (AFPO) With Version Three Featuring New Mobility Capability

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today unveiled at Oracle (News - Alert) OpenWorld 2011 version three of its Accenture Foundation Platform for Oracle (AFPO), which offers clients a variety of new features, including the capability to access Oracle Applications on mobile devices.

Accessing enterprise applications from mobile devices has long presented new challenges to clients, such as device management and security. AFPO now answers this challenge by integrating Oracle's mobility enterprise software, called Oracle Application Developer Framework (or ADF Mobile).

AFPO includes repeatable designs along with the ability to deploy to today's various mobile devices, and offers secure access so clients can mobilize their workforce with efficiency. As a result, users are able to deliver either packaged or custom Oracle Applications to tablets or smart phones by embracing HTML5 technology across today's key mobile platforms - Apple's iOS, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Android (News - Alert).

In addition to giving clients the capability to access applications on mobile devices that are commonly used by enterprises other new features in version three include the integration of Oracle enterprise grid management and Oracle web services manager. These new features are pre-integrated with over 25 Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g products and Accenture (News - Alert) software that are critical to delivering business benefits and functionality.

AFPO, a suite of integrated software tools, was created earlier this year to accelerate the integration and deployment of solutions on Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Additionally, AFPO is being used as a key accelerator for clients implementing Oracle ERP solutions as well as those adopting Fusion Applications.

AFPO offers a fully implemented and integrated live environment that povides clients with one centralized enterprise architecture that lets them share, secure and analyze their data with less cost and risk. It can be delivered at one time or in stages, on-site, hosted or as a cloud solution.

Version 3 of AFPO is delivered with documentation that allows clients to tap into Accenture's deep knowledge of Oracle. The documentation serves as a comprehensive guide that instructs clients how to design, install, deploy and connect AFPO to their existing architecture. This 'how-to' guide was written based on the experience of 80,000 man days of Accenture professionals who have worked with AFPO.

AFPO helps reduce the cost to implement Oracle Fusion Middleware11g solutions. For example, one of Accenture's financial services clients saved more than 30 percent in development costs using AFPO.

"The ability to have an Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g environment up and running in a day allows us to focus on the business needs of clients, rather than getting encumbered with time-consuming configuration and integration work," said Gavin Michael, chief technology innovation officer, Accenture. "That's one of the many reasons our clients are choosing AFPO, which is designed to meet the needs of businesses and organizations looking to simplify and speed up the installation of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. It does the heavy lifting for clients so they can shave time off their schedule and money off their budget."

AFPO uptake among Accenture clients has been brisk, as they recognize that it allows for the more seamless adoption of Oracle Fusion Applications. Since version one of AFPO was rolled out last January, some 14 clients have signed on, representing a cross section of industries.

"Accenture has demonstrated their commitment to Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g through their innovative offering in AFPO," said Hasan Rizvi, senior vice president, Product Development, Oracle. "We are pleased to see Accenture leveraging Oracle's latest offerings along with its experience implementing Oracle technologies to bring critical mobile access to our joint customers."

AFPO version three is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2011. For more information on AFPO, visit www.accenture.com/afpo.
