AFCOM Wraps Successful Data Center World in Orlando


ORLANDO, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

AFCOM, the premier data center association, wrapped up its Data Center World event last Thursday, September 14. The educational conference and expo was held at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention and addressed critical issues such as cloud computing, cyber security, facility cooling, energy management, disaster recovery and data storage challenges. The next event hosted by AFCOM will be the spring Data Center World 2012 conference, set to be held March 18-22, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nev. More information on this show will be forthcoming this fall. The Fall 2011 conference hosted presentations and case studies from leading private and government data centers such as GE Energy, Sandia National Laboratories, National Oceanic (News - Alert) and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Intel Corporation, CA Technologies, and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. John Patrick, president of Attitude LLC and former vice president of Internet Technology at IBM (News - Alert), delivered the keynote address. While at IBM, Patrick helped execute the launch of the ThinkPad.

During the event, AFCOM's Data Center Institute's release of the new research report "How to Stay in Business: A Data Center Institute Report on Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity." The report outlines the objectives, priorities and responsibilities data center managers-and organizations overall-need to put in place in order to properly safeguard their data and operations during cyber-attacks or natural disasters. Attendees were given access to the Data Center Institute researchers behind the report during a panel discussion of the study.
