Sacramento County Office of Education Communications Office wins awards


Sep 27, 2011 (Lodi News-Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The California School Public Relations Association will honor the Sacramento County Office of Education Communications Office with 10 statewide awards at its annual conference this year.

CalSPRA is a nationally recognized leader in school communications. The annual CalSPRA Excellence in Communication Awards Program recognizes outstanding achievement in communications and public relations for K-16 educational professionals and institutions throughout the state, according to a press release.

The county education office won awards for the following projects and categories: California Gold --Mather Employee Events Team (recognized for events throughout the year) Award of Excellence --Sacramento County Academic Decathlon Poster --EXPRESSIONS 2011 Student Art Calendar --Cy Young Building Dedication --Employee Recognition Day Award of Merit --Sacramento County Office of Education website --Sacramento County Academic Decathlon Banquet Program --Opinion-Editorial: Funding Delays Put Our Kids' Futures on Hold --Mock Trial/Moot Court Competition Program --Student Success Day The SCOE Communications Office provides communication services to support SCOE's programs and services. It assists school districts in Sacramento County with strategic communications and media outreach, and serves as a key disseminator of information to educators and community leaders countywide.


The team includes Tim Herrera, communications director; Cathy Sapunor, special events coordinator; Beth Flory, program analyst; and John Woodward, multimedia design specialist.
