Vodafone, Kordia offer joint service [Dominion Post (Wellington, New Zealand)](Dominion Post (Wellington, New Zealand) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) VODAFONE and Kordia have teamed up to chase the business and government telecommunications market, signing on Tui brewer DB Breweries as their first joint customer. Under the partnership, Vodafone will provide mobile voice and broadband services, while Kordia will supply fixed internet, wide area network and telephony services. Kordia sales general manager Drew Gilpin said the partnership would allow them to bid for business that would normally be beyond their individual reach. Businesses often went go to market for wide area network services, "but then they would say, 'While we're here, why don't we integrate mobile and other services into this?' We had already been talking about how this could work and DB Breweries provided a catalyst." The DB Breweries solution includes 300 mobiles, 200 Vodems for mobile broadband, and a wide area network linking 13 sites, including Mangatainoka - home of the iconic Tui Brewery building, Greymouth and Timaru. DB Breweries chief information officer Pam Nobbs said Vodafone and Kordia had been able to reduce duplication in its services. "For example, our total number of desk phones has gone from 366 to only 99. We recognised the benefits of removing duplication in services for a large proportion of staff that were already very reliant on mobile." Gilpin said its OnKor wide area network product gave DB Breweries greater visibility over its network. "Network traffic can be prioritised according to business need, for example, prioritising video conferencing over Facebook access." Vodafone director of sales Grant Hopkins said the telecommunications needs of larger corporate customers were complex. "Kordia offers a unique set of services that enhance the offering we can make." Gilpin said the partnership was not an opportunistic relationship to win one customer, but a long-term commitment. Other Vodafone- Kordia customers included Tegel and construction firm Stevenson Group. (c) 2011 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved. |
