Silver Spring Networks' Enhanced UtilityIQ Advanced Metering Software Speeds Time-to-Market for New Smart Grid Devices

Autovation - Silver Spring Networks, a leading smart grid networking platform and solutions provider, today unveiled its enhanced UtilityIQ 4.4 advanced metering software suite that supports a Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for integrating new meters. The SDK speeds time-to-market for new meters and simplifies new meter adoption for utilities. Mass adoption of the smart grid around the globe has spurred an unprecedented expansion of new metering devices available to utilities. For example, tilityIQ 4.4 advanced metering solution now supports smart water meter modules from Freestyle Technology communicating over the wireless protocol ZigBee. This new capability allows Australian utilities to leverage the Silver Spring networking platform and advanced metering solution to remotely communicate, manage and support water meters without expensive and extensive duplication of infrastructure and maintain security, data separation and privacy.

For the Brazilian market, the enhanced UtilityIQ 4.4 software suite supports meters from Silver Spring ecosystem partner Nansen, a leader in the Brazilian energy industry. Supported meters include the Nansen Spectrum (News - Alert) M, a single-phase meter, and the Spectrum K, a polyphase meter. The UtilityIQ advanced metering software also supports augmented tamper detection and alerting, critical to meeting the Brazilian market's need to address non-technical losses.
