Boston Cable and Internet Provider RCN Pleased to Sponsor Arlington International Film Festival October 6-9, at the Regent Theater

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Arlington, MA (PRWEB) September 26, 2011 RCN, phone, cable, and internet providers to the Boston area, is proud to announce their sponsorship of the Arlington International Film Festival, which runs from October 6 through October 9, at The Regent Theater. AIFF is dedicated to developing, promoting and increasing multicultural awareness and understanding through the power of film and believes that the annual film festival is a means for recognizing how diversity enriches our communities. As an industry leader of cable and Internet bundles, RCN shares these ideals of celebrating diversity. RCN believes that with today’s technology, the TV channels and shows people watch in one country should be available in any country. As International TV providers, RCN already broadcasts channels from more than 24 countries and is dedicated to adding even more worldwide destinations to their Global Passport. RCN is especially excited to be involved with an event such as The Arlington International Film Festival which offers a special category of short submissions accepted from local high school students, for whom entry fees have been waived. Who knows? Perhaps someday these young film makers’ work will be scheduled programming on cable TV in Boston and around the world! This year, the festival’s non-profit fiscal agent is The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA). This organization works to promote the rights and integration of immigrants and refugees. All donations made to AIFF via MIRA will be tax deductible and will serve to provide the commonwealth’s one million foreign-born residents with policy analysis and advocacy, as well as training and leadership development. RCN, Boston cable providers, know how important these services are to the greater New England area and encourage everyone to show their support by attending the festival and making a donation today at http://www.aiffest.org/donations.html.

RCN looks for opportunities to support creativity and endeavors that better our communities. This is why they have signed on as a “Mill Wheel Sponsor” of the Arlington International Film Festival. Each level of sponsorship is named after people and places significant to Arlington. The “Mill Wheel” refers to the historic Old Schwamb Mill which has operated continuously for more than three hundred years. Immigrant Puritan, Yankee and German entrepreneurs harnessed the power of the fast moving Mill Brook in Arlington to run machines and develop a variety of family-owned businesses. The Schwambs have been operating the mill since 1864 and today the mill continues to produce museum quality hand turned wooden circular and oval frames.

RCN encourages everyone to use their Boston high speed Internet connection to learn more about the Arlington International Film Festival at http://www.aiffest.org. Opening night is October 6 at The Regent Theater and the festival runs through October 9. Come celebrate the dedication and hard work of this organization, progressive independent film producers and directors, and the next generation of talented filmmakers in our community!
