Canon's imaging technologies to be combined with Oracle productsSep 26, 2011 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- A new technology collaboration was announced on Sunday by business software and hardware systems company Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) and Oracle Japan, together with imaging equipment and information systems provider Canon Inc (NYSE:CAJ) and Canon IT Solutions. Under the agreement imaging technologies from Canon will be combined with Oracle software products including Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic Server, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle WebCenter and Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME). Canon IT Solutions will also integrate Oracle capabilities into Canon imaging technology to create a new flexible imaging platform based on a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Expected to be made available in 2012, the new platform will enable Canon printers and copiers, including imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems, to connect to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and CRM applications including Oracle Applications. This collaboration builds on an existing partnership between Canon and Oracle, under which Canon has embedded Oracle's database, middleware and Java ME capabilities into its multifunction office systems and software technologies for several years.
