Bishop Disowns Internet Messages Calling for AssistanceAdo Ekiti, Sep 22, 2011 (Daily Champion/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- CATHOLIC Bishop of Ekiti diocese, Most Rev. Felix Ajakaye, has urged the members of the public to beware of those dropping his names via internet with the evil intention to defraud members of the public to the tune of about 1,500 euros The clergyman, who vehemently absolved himself of an involvement in fund-raising as being claimed by the hackers, dissociated himself from the mail, which is now in circulation via electronic mail, just as he urged recipients of the electronic mail to disregard its content saying it did not emanate from him. The electronic mail, which the cleric attached to his reaction, explained that the bishop has been held up in Spain and needed financial assistance of 1,500 Euros with a promise to pay back as soon as he is back in Nigeria . The mail reads "Greetings, I am writing this letter for you to know the situation of things right now, am in Spain and I have a little problem at hand and you are the only one that can help me, I promise I will pay back as soon as I get back home. "Please I want you to lend me 1,500 Euros I really need it to sort out things here. Please I want you to send me the money through Western Union money transfer." The e-mail also gave the details as follows receivers name, Felix Femi Ajakaye address: Paseo de la Castellana, 220, Zip Code: 28046, City: Madrid , Country: Spain "Please as soon as you are done with the transfer please email me the Money Transfer Control number (MTCN) or please just scan the receipt give to you by Western Union. Please I will be waiting for your help. God bless you. Felix Femi Ajakaye. The bishop in the statement released to journalists warned that: "My e-mail account has been hacked by fraudsters. I discovered that just this morning." "I disassociate myself from that mail and have nothing to do with the contents. I am in Nigeria and not in Spain . Kindly disregard the mail and help me inform others so as not to fall into the hands of these enemies of Science and Technology." |
